Start here: decide before you buy

The Tested Stack publishes hands-on software reviews, digital marketing education and AI resources. This page shows how to use a review to decide before you spend money.

// How to read a review

Four things to check, in order

01

Read the verdict first

Every review opens with a Keep or Skip call, who the product is for, and who should skip it. If you are in the skip group, you can stop there.

02

Look at the total cost

Many digital products add upsells after checkout. Each review adds them up, so you see the price if you buy everything, not just the base price.

03

Check the refund window

The verdict box shows the refund window we saw at checkout. Know it before you pay, in case the product is not what you expected.

04

See how we tested it

Each review says what task we used the product for and shows our own screenshots. A review without that is a sales page.

Five questions to ask about any digital product

Use these even on products we have not reviewed yet.

  1. Does it do one job you already need done?
  2. What does it cost with every upsell added?
  3. How long is the refund window, and how do you claim it?
  4. Is there a cheaper or free tool that does the same job?
  5. Are the results on the sales page from real users you can check?

Check the review before you buy

Every review shows who should skip it and what the upsells really cost.
