Your informationand what we do with it

This site collects very little. This policy lists all of it, why we need it, and how to see, change or delete it.

At a glance

  • We collect your name and email only when you contact us or sign up for the Friday email.
  • We do not use analytics, advertising trackers or tracking cookies.
  • We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising.
  • You can ask us to show you, correct or delete what we hold about you at any time.

Who we are

thetestedstack.com is run by The Tested Stack, based in the USA. Our mailing address is 2925 Richmond Ave., Suite 1200, Houston, TX 77098. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean The Tested Stack. We decide how your personal information is used, which makes us its controller.

What this policy covers

This policy covers thetestedstack.com, the contact form, the Friday email, and the Claude skills we sell. It does not cover sites we link to, including product sellers, the marketplaces they sell through, and Skool. Those sites have their own privacy policies.

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact form: your name, email address, the topic you pick and your message.
  • The Friday email: your email address.
  • Pro skills purchases: your name, email address and order details. Card details go straight to our payment processor and never reach us.

Information collected automatically

  • Server logs: our hosting and delivery providers record your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This is how the site is delivered and protected from abuse.
  • Email engagement: whether you open the Friday email and which links you click, recorded by our email provider.
  • Your theme choice: light or dark mode, stored only in your browser. It is never sent to us.

What we do not collect

We do not use analytics tools, advertising pixels, session recording or fingerprinting. We do not collect sensitive personal information, such as health, financial account or government ID details. Our fonts are hosted on our own site, so loading a page does not send your details to a font provider.

Meet legal obligationsAny of the above, only where the law requires it

We do not use your information for automated decisions that have legal or similar effects on you, and we do not build advertising profiles.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on these legal bases:

  • Consent for the Friday email. You can withdraw it at any time.
  • Contract to deliver Pro skills you buy.
  • Legitimate interests to reply to messages and to keep the site secure.
  • Legal obligation where a law requires us to keep or share information.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers that help us run the site. They may use it only to provide their service to us.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a sale or merger of our business. If that happens, this policy keeps applying to your information.

No sale or sharing

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined in California law. We have not done so in the past 12 months. We honor Global Privacy Control signals, though there is no sale or sharing for them to stop.

Cookies

We set no tracking cookies. Our delivery provider may set a strictly necessary security cookie. Our cookie policy lists every cookie and browser storage item in detail.

Some links in our reviews are affiliate links. When you click one, you leave this site. The seller, or the marketplace it sells through, may then set its own cookies to track the referral and pay us a commission. We do not receive your name, email or payment details from them. Their privacy policies apply on their sites. Our disclosure explains how commissions work.

The Friday email

  • We only send it to people who sign up.
  • Every email has a working unsubscribe link and our mailing address.
  • We stop sending within 10 business days of an unsubscribe request, usually much sooner.
  • We never sell or rent the list.

How long we keep it

Contact messagesAs long as we need them to reply and follow up, then deleted
Friday email subscribersUntil you unsubscribe, then a suppression record so we do not email you again
Pro skills ordersAs long as tax and accounting law requires
Server logsSet by GitHub and Cloudflare under their own policies

Security

The whole site runs over HTTPS. We collect as little as we can, limit who can access it, and use providers with their own security programs. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will tell you as the law requires.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you, and give you a copy;
  • correct information that is wrong;
  • delete your information;
  • stop sending you the Friday email.

To make a request, email frontdesk@thetestedstack.com or use our contact page, and pick "General question" as the topic. We will confirm your request within 10 business days and answer within 45 days. If we need more time, we will tell you why. We may ask you to confirm your email address so we know the request is yours. We will never charge you or treat you differently for using these rights.

US state privacy rights

Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon and other states with consumer privacy laws have the rights above, plus these:

  • Right to know the categories of personal information we collect, the sources, the purposes and who we disclose it to. That is all set out in this policy.
  • Right to opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising and profiling. We do none of these.
  • Authorized agents. You can have someone make a request for you. We may ask for proof that you gave them permission.
  • Right to appeal. If we decline your request, reply to our decision and ask us to reconsider. We will answer an appeal within 45 days. If you are still not satisfied, you can contact your state attorney general.

Categories collected in the past 12 months: identifiers (name, email address, IP address), commercial information (Pro skills orders), and internet activity (server logs and email engagement). None of it was sold or shared for advertising.

EU and UK visitors

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to restrict or object to how we use your information, and to receive it in a portable format. You can complain to your local data protection authority, though we would like the chance to fix the problem first.

Children

This site is for adults. It is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

International transfers

We are based in the United States, and our providers process information in the United States and other countries. If you visit from outside the US, your information is transferred to the US, where privacy laws may differ from yours.

Changes

When this policy changes, we update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects how we use information you already gave us, we will tell you by email or with a notice on the site before it takes effect.
